How to remove heater core/ac under dash?
Hey i want to remove all my heating/ac bullshit from underneath the dash.. anyone have any pics or how hard this is to do?... I want to remove the heater fittings from the firewall and also the AC fittings on the firewall
thanks
thanks
probably closest thing to it is following the disassembly of the jdm climate control thread
here it is
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1160290
basically pull off the dash
disconnect the a/c lines
disconnect the hoses in the engine bay that run to the heater core(probably have to get plugs for the fittings in the engine bay)
pull out the heater core/evaporator/blower/ducting/etc
it's not that hard....just follow the lines
when i did the climate control i removed the a/c components and gutted the evaporator box and put it back in place for the air to flow through

you don't need to take the dash off to get it out
just take the glovebox out
then take the airbag out, make sure you use the red connector
then you can loosen all the bolts on it and yank it
wait nevermind, i thought he meant just the evaporator coil.
Yeah, you're gonna have to pull the dash for that.....evan do you plan on making this a track only car? I hope so....

nooooo, but theres no use to have that big black box in there, if i dont have ac. I dont want that big line sticking out anyways. .and i guess those heater fittings will have to stay (cap them?)
thanks bro!!!
but is it hard to remove that black box.. and can u remove those fittings off the firewall?
i havent really looked much underneith there because its soo damn crowded, but i NEED TO keep the airbags

The fittings on the firewall ARE the black box.
Those fittings are pipes that go in and out of the black box. You'll have to take the hoses off from the engine bay, then unbolt and pull out the black box from inside the car. It's really pretty easy overall (with the dash taken out).

If you want to keep heat, all you have to do is take the ac coil out of the black box, if you take the box out, you have no duct between the blower and the ac unit out to the vents.
You can take the ac stuff out and put the box back in.

yeah that is what i did, maybe i wasn't clear before....
i was talking about capping the coolant lines that come from the engine if you were to remove the heater core.
the pipes (or fittings) that go to the evaporator are connected to the stuff inside the black box.....it can be gutted and removed after you pull it out......you can then replace the gutted box and keep heat.
but if you don't want any of it, then remove the heater core box, evaporator box, and blower motor......and you can probably take out some of the ducting like the one that runs under the steering wheel to the driver door
