Default Polishing a lip...

If I got rims that dont have a polished lip, could I just use super fine grit sandpaper (1000-1500) to sand it? I know a professional shop could do it. Just wanted to know if it'd be worth it. Thx.

Sounds crazy, and it is dangerous if not done right, but I read an article in Super Chevy where they jacked the car up, secured it, then put the car in gear. While the wheel spun, they used fine grit paper, then various polishing compounds. Those muscle car guys are inventive.

Back from the dead, I want to know if anyone has done what Mr. Thunderlips brought up?

easier to use air craft stripper on lip (tape off spokes) and then polish afterwards.... and MUCH safer
