any ideas on HOW TO POLISH A LIP?
i have some heliums and want to polish the lip the hole rim is bronze right now any ideas how how to polish the lip??

If you have never polished metal to a shine before, don't. Its a ROYAL pain in the *** to do by hand and you will be more pissed off with the results.

I did this on my rims because the polished lip had dulled and become oxidized. What i did was start with 600 grit wetsandpaper and sanded them down to get all the oxidation and pits and imperfections out of the lip. Then I moved up to 800, then 1000, and finally 2000 grit, all wetsandpaper. After that the surface was very smooth, but obviously dull. Then i polished it with some Turtle Wax rubbing compound (in the green can, you can use the red too if you need more abrasion). And finally I polished the hell out of it with Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish. Now the lip on my rims is almost chrome-like. It is very shiny, whereas before it was super dull and looked like sh*t. I was very pleased with the results, but it is alot of work. It took me 4 days to do them all, working on each one about 3-4 hours a day, but it was worth it in the end. I don't have any updated pics right now, but I could take some later to kinda show you a before and after shot. Good luck.

Put the wheel you want to polish up front. Jack the car up. Have a friend hit the gas and hold the sandpaper to the peice you want polished! When shiny, switch wheels out!

ROFL. Thats the best idea ive heard in a long time. I would love to see this done. Maybe the OP can do this and film it for us.
