Default Help a member get his first S2k

Didnt get to see a buying a used s2k faq in here , would like to get ideas from you guys if its possible to get a clean s2k in the price range of $13k-$15k

which year will be the best for this range and at what condition or am i dreaming too early? i saw one 2000 s2k 1st generation s2000 out there for $14k clean title , is that price a little too steep for a 52k mile clean title car?

is it worth it to get the earlier batches of s2k compared to the later version ones?

i dont even know what to start asking so anyone of you who did get a used s2k hope u can contribute here.

really hope i can get it soon for myself as it is just so tempting after i sat in one in one of the local autocross events

thats not a bad deal but i would go for a 2001 or newer just to avoid any bugs that could come. i bought an 01 with 60000 on it for around 14900 plus doc fees and tags and all that good stuff. just keep your eye open because deals are not always easy to come by. you will not regret it either

drive it at different speeds/loads listen for a "howling" from the rear.. make sure it isnt the tires you are hearing.

valve wise lising for load ticking...

check top inside and out for wear

I just picked up a used 2000 with 68k on her. When I test drove her, it was the first time I ever drove an S2k, although I have been a passenger in a few before. My reaction: I absolutely loved her! If you are unsure about the purchase, get behind the wheel, that was what changed my mine.

Oh yea, and make sure she is mechanically sound.

'00 with 52k for ~$13-14K sounds about right. I 've been looking too for a couple of weeks now and the best deal I found out there was an '00 with 83k mi. for $11.9K. Not for me though because I 'm looking at '05-06's but that striked me like a good deal.

52k is low mileage for an '00 or for a Honda so $13-14K is not bad at all. Go for it. Just because they 're asking for $14K it doesn't mean you can't make an offer for a little less..
Good luck.
