Default Aftermarket Sub with Stock HU in '02 Accord

One of my friends is looking into getting a little system in her (I think) '02 Accord sedan...nothing crazy, 1 Memphis 12 in a ported box on a RF 300w amp. I've seen people install an aftermarket HU in the little console beneath the stock one (in that little cubby hole)...but I seem to remember hearing something about a crossover cable that can be used with the stock HU...can somebody point me in the right direction because I've come up with nothing.

Thanks in advance

if u wanna stay wit the stock hu, just purchase a lineout put converter. u can either hook it up to the rear speakers on the deck or behind the radio.u can also install a new radio where the old radio is. i know metra makes the kit.. i've installed them at my job before. they're a lil expensive tho.

I saw the kit...but more than likely I'll be installing in and I want to keep it as stock as possible, just with a little extra bump. Do you have a link for the lineout put converter?

Take your pick....

And on that car, I'd probably tap the rear speaker wires to connect the converter due to the complexity of removing the factory radio...

However, does the RF amp not have speaker level inputs? I bet it does, which would eliminate the need for the converter...

What about something like this? (I'm just used to putting in new HU and wiring up subs and speakers...nothing past that really)

No, that won't work. That allows you to put an aftermarket head unit and still retain the factory amplifiers...

You simply need one of the converters in the link I posted, or purchased from Best Buy or Circuit City or any other car audio retailer...

But if the amp has speaker level inputs, you don't need the converter; you can simply tap into the speaker wires at the rear speakers and run those into the "speaker level inputs" on the amp...
