Default Another Intake thread, Clear this up for everyone (who doesn't know)

K, I'm getting frustrated about all the different threads that I searched through, and people are saying different things. Now I haven't installed a CAI yet so I want to clear some things up.

SRI=Short ram intake=hot air, higher low-end
CAI=Cold air intake=cold air, higher high-end

- Now, a SRI wil go to about half the engine bay in length
- CAI will go under near the wheel to grab the cold air but watch out for hydrolock

So, whats an Intake that has the filter near the battery? Is that considered cold air? It essentially replaces the stock intake, and is in the same position. (Thats what I want)

E-Bay intake: (+ K&N filter) apprently the way to go
Is this considered an e-bay intake and will have the filter near the battery?

Thanks for your help and I hope this will help other as well

Short ram and ebay pipe + filter are essentially the same thing.

its an ebay intake if you found it on ebay and its a no name..........

dunno why you are putting so much thought into this. Its just an intake. Buy one and install it with a good filter. done.

Seriously...it's just an intake. It doesn't do hardly anything anyway.

dont be tricked by the big names marketing tricks.. its just a pipe with a good filter on the end. If you want to fear going through puddles(on the highway it could just be alittle stream of water across the road), then a CAI is your best bet. If you want alittle more power, noise, fun, w/o sacrifices then grab the short ram. read up on this HAN thread i made when I made my decision if your still not convinced with all these responses

I got my intake off of eBay. It made my car sound better than stock and that's about all...I didn't really notice a change in performance at all. My friend had a CAI on his Prelude and there was no difference that I noticed.

Take a look at the Ice-man intake. I've had one forever and works well, it's made of a plastic that doesn't get real hot and it comes right down to the front of the hood where the stock air box was so you can put whatever filter you want on there after the one that comes with it wears out. It comes in a couple different colors and sounds real nice too.
