I'm very glad to see you're not spending your money on pointless crap. An intake is an intake. You will get the same performance from your ebay tube that you would with an AEM. Basically when you buy an AEM, you're paying for the carb legal sticker, not the performance.

The Tube: This is the part of the intake that's no different between expensive and inexpensive. Its an aluminum tube.

The filter: The filter is a part you want to spend a little money on. A good K&N filter is not too expensive, and will last a lot longer.

even though the filter that comes on the EBAY CAI isnt very high quality, you problaly wont even notice a diference anyways on ure little 16v. however once you go turbo you will want a quality one.

intake length and diameter is quite important. Everyone saying a tube is a tube is mistaken. I have dyno sheet of my engine with my short ram, AEM CAI, and AEM CAI with 6 inch extension.

I'm not saying don't get ebay. The OP probably should since his motor is otherwise stock. No use in spending extra, and ebay is probably an AEM ripoff anyway. However, you can make some drastic changes with resonance tuning. Check out what simple length changes cause. (notice the large resonance dips and spikes as well) This was on Sean Church's dyno.

Magenta: AEM with 6 inch extension
Blue: AEM CAI
Green: Apexi Short

What's most important is the filter. If you get a crappy one, at least get a good K&N filter to go with it.

Thats pretty cool. However, I doubt that is applicable on a DD. Are you one of the evans tuning guys? If so, you're amazing! I love your work!

wow your dumb. Even if he did drop a turbo on his car it would still be a 16 valve. Secondly whether you have a turbo or not you still dont want **** getting in your engine, you should always have a good filter.

my intake costed 25 bucks including shipping through ebay. its a short ram from a ebay store called racing guys or sumthin cheesy like that. I love it. I also got a header at the same time from a different store for 50 bucks including shipping. That I got from sumthin like taika. i do not regret getting these parts and i feel way more power and calculated more gas mileage (3mpg more).
