Default help noooob q!

i have a dirty k&n filter. wats the best way to wash it? jus run water throuigh it or drench it in a bucket? do i use soap? or just water? this is a simple noob question, just wondering wats the best way to clean a filter.

You are supposed to purchase a recharge kit that has a spray solution that breaks down the oil. The directions are on the box. You spray the solution on the exterior, wait a few minutes, then spray water from the inside out. Then knock the water out and let dry before respraying the oil.
