Default two B18C5 questions

For those of you who are used to working on B18C5s, I need a little advice in two areas.

1) Can somebody please tell me what the proper spark plug gap is?

2) I want to change the tranny oil, but on the side of the tranny I see three potential drain/fill holes. The first looks like a 3/8ths indent near the very bottom, and close to the centerline of the car which I'm assuming is the drain. Then on the side of the tranny, about halfway up is a 1/2 indent that looks like the fill. However, even higher than that is a hex indent that also could be the fill, though it looks like you would have to remove the fender lining to get to it. Can anybody confirm which is the fill hole?

THANKS!!!

Matt

Regarding the spark plug gap, is your car moderately stock, NA, or turbo?

For the transmission drain, the bottom most fitting with the 3/8" indent is the drain, use a 3/8" ratchet and drain into a pan.

Make sure you use a new crush washer when refilling, the torque is 29 ft/lbs. The fill capacity is 2.3 quarts. When filling, unbolt the one rear-most 10mm bolt holding the VSS in place and use a long funnel to fill from here, it's much less messy.

You lost me here. Which one do I use to refill? Thanks!

He's saying to fill it from the top with a long funnel by pulling the VSS out. You just have to measure appropriately .

The proper fill hole is the one half way up.

He's referring to the speed sensor that is bolted down on the the back side of the transmission. Remove the 10mm bolt holding it in place, remove the sensor, and use funnel to fill in that hole.

a1320addict and I are talking about the VSS, and VTEC.DC2 is talking about the breather. Two different parts. I've never used the breather though, but if it works then that would be pretty easy VSS is pretty easy too. I just did it last nite real quick

This is how I add tranny fluid. I usually leave the fill bolt out so I can tell when the fluid starts to run out a little bit. Add bolt, top off maybe another 3 spits worth and put the vent cap back on.

No one touched this question?

I used to run .028" on my ITR, but that was on Toyos, so it probably doesn't help you so much.

Most hondas are spec'ed at .044, but I'm not 100% sure if that's the right number for the ITR. Can someone confirm?

On edit, Matt didn't answer back to this..

This is his racecar, so he has "at least" intake/header/exhaust. Probably not higher than USDM stock (or JDM-stock) compression. So, closer to stock than "built".

Thanks for covering my back. Yes, it has I/H/E and Civic Type R pistons. For now I just threw the new ones in with the pre-gap for this weekend. The gap matched the ones that I took out (that had been in for the last two years). I'll deal with re-gapping later if I have to.

Thanks again for the replies everybody.

Matt

I'm home sick from work today, watching figure-8 bus racing out at Rockford on TV. Yum!
