Help Removing My Tranny Oil Filler Plug
Son of a...
Well I've done this 5 billion times before and I've never had a problem with it. I'm trying to change my tranny fluid, but I can't get the oil filler plug off. I don't know why it seized all of a sudden? I change tranny fluid often, replace both fill and drain gaskets each time, and torque both bolts/plugs to factory specs.
Anyone have tips on how to unseize the filler plug? Or better yet...I've heard you can add oil from somewhere else in the tranny, but never paid any mind to the possibility until now. Is that true? If yeah...from where??
Any help is appreciated...
Thanks
AND YES I DID A SEARCH.

I guess I could do that and just measure the amount I'm putting in there.
But I really want to get that damned oil filler plug out...
Thanks btw

yea what he said. I add my fluid through the speed sensor hole in the top of the tranny. Just unbolt the hole sensor unit and work it out. Then use a funnel and its nice and easy to get the fluid in there.

...put the 17mm wrench on it, put one hand on the wrench and beat that hand with your free hand. It should break it loose. If not, get a ratchet with a 17mm on it and put a breaker bar on the ratchet.
If you were close to me, I would tell you to come to my work and I would get it off for you. I work at an oil change place, and I can get ANY plug of with my hands, a ratchet, and a 4 ft. hollow steel pipe.

Are you trying to get at it from the side of the car, or from the front? You can get better leverage if you go from the front. Also, sometimes I slide the closed end of the wrench over the ratchet. Gives you more leverage, essentially the same as a breaker bar.

Oh hell yeah. I sprayed that stuff on last night and I'm about to go at it in a few minutes.
And thanks for the suggestions...I had tried most of those things already, and from every angle possible. Believe me, I've seen some tough bolts in my days...But even the damn closed end of the wrench, and the socket/ratchet was slipping around the damn plug. I'm freaking rounding the head of it, damn it. I didn't want to round it completely so I just quit and sprayed it, went to sleep, and like I said I'm gonna go at it right now.
And yes... I'm using the right wrench/socket.
Thanks for thee help. You guys own.
