I heard that short shifters are not the best for the longevity of the transmission. I just put a neuspeed one in my 94 Del Sol and am wondering what will happen in the long run.
Can anyone provide some insight?
Please advise.

 

Short shifters do not cause tranny damage, whats causes tranny damage is driver error.

 

If you shift SUPER FAST ALL THE TIME then you might wear out the synchros faster. Shift like a sane person and you'll be fine. I've had a short throw since last August w/ no problems. I did not even scratch at all when I took my car to the dragstrip in March.

 

Had a short shifter on my old d15 for 45K miles, no problem. When I got my swap, threw in a short shifter and I've had that for over 20K miles and still no problem. Damage to the tranny is usually caused by the driver.
