easiest way to boost performance in a S2K?
As all of us know here that the S2000 is one awsomely engineered piece of hardware. I would say close to optimal given the engine/chassis size. So close to optimal that the aftermarket has not been able to extract much more performance out of Honda's first F/R chassis. Making 200+ HP with a 2 liter NA 4-banger, while passing SMOG regulations and restrictions.
What is the best and easiest way to boost the power output/delivery of the engine without going FI?
Best way to make it hadel better without sacraficing ride quality, or perhaps improve the ride, besides obviously changing to stickier tires?

i think the best way to boost power output would probably be tuning with aem ems. a good tuning will yield from 10-20 hp depending on how well its tuned. as far as handling, do not go with springs if u want to improve handling. most springs are really all about looks. the only springs i think do not decrease or increase handling by a little bit would be kg/mm race springs or swift springs. the stock suspension is so well built. take time to track or autox ur car before messing with the suspension. the stock suspension has a lot to offer.

kgmm spring? they are almost double the stock spring rate, then you end up changing the damper. then might as well go with a full coilover.
not sure AEM is the bang for the buck, at least for the cali guys that can't pass smog with it
you can't beat dollar per speed than Gear set, i/h/test/e will do nothing with a stock s with a set of gear

What is wrong with the OEM gearing? what are the costs of a new set of finals?
As for engine management... Who says you got to pay $1500 for a aem? There are plenty of choices out there with all kinds of capabilities and a price range to match. The ECM upgrade CAN still have some "Bang for the Buck" IMHO
Suspention wise, if I were to do the spings, I would definatly throw in the matching dampers$$$. What about just doing the sway bars? Any appreciable handling improvement over the stock units?

there is nothing wrong with the final gearing...honda engineered it that way to make highway driving comphy.
basically, the the 4.77 gear is the best acceleration final gear on the aftermarket market... but i would imagine it would make highway driving a bitch, they made the 4.56 to comprimise acceleration speed, with street drivabillity.
the stock final gear on the s is a 4.1
imo, you can't beat ricks2k.com's pricing for a final gear set.

hmm lets see...
seat? yeah, i kinda need one.. plus i like da sexy ladies next to me so gotta keep that...
carpet? well i dont want my ride to look like its been stolen...
spare tire and jack? that is free... unless you get a flat.. then its $$
door panels...definetly need those to NOT make my ride look ghetto.
haha, in all seriousness... you would maybe strip 40 lbs... MAX. if you took all that stuff off. and basically that is the combined weight of the seat and spare
and i guess that would make a slight difference...
but what do i know, im a n00b.

You're right, what DO you know? I had 2 seats, floormats, stereo, door panels, and still came in at 260lbs lighter than stock.
What do you think that spare is good for? Throwing off the car's balance. There's a thing called AAA; got a flat? Get a tow truck.

im not saying that weight reducing items dont help..im just saying they arnt free.
i mean... if there was a way to shed 260lbs for free...hell yeah i would hop on that bandwagon, so let me know

It's not a bandwagon, it's a commitment. I doubt you prissies will give up A/C, softtop, all carpet, plastic trims, spare, and swap the hood, fenders, and trunk to CF, switch to a 128dB, 7lb Ti exhaust.
AAA is free up to a certain point (50 miles) if you get the premier membership.

ok...swaping anything to cf costs $$$ for sure...same with the exhaust, that was the point i was trying to make. you can't lose 260lbs for free, which what i believed at the time to be the point of this argument
yeah, you are right... most of that stuff i do see as a waste to give up, but i was def all down for the amuse r1 titan...OBVIOUSLY

Easiest way to improve handling is to improve to a stickier tire. Stiff Showa coilovers will help dampen the oversteer. If just barely over 200+hp, consider engine management system (AEM EMS). If more, consider a 2.4 or 2.5L stroker kit. But it won't be easy. Add an ITB to that equation and watch the ease melt away.

.........man you guys drive S2Ks so act like it. If you buy a $50k car act like it too. Everyone is so cheap and find the cheapest way out to make their car faster. If you got an S2K then you got the cash to get a SC or a turbo. UNLESSS......you're one of those who went out and bought 2000-2003 S2000 with 200k on it and paid $10,000 for it, and still trying to pay off the other $5,000.

i paid for my s2k in cash, i mean no down payment, no lease, nothing, straight up cash...so yeah, please don't assume things because you make an *** out of u and me. (get it?) and yeah i have the cash to go buy a s/c..but so what.
the most retarded statement you had in there was if you have an s2k then you got the cash to buy a s/c. im sure everyone has 6'gs lying around to put into a car they bought on a lien(for most people).
everyone is not being cheap...they are being smart.
you can buy all the equipment in the world to make your car lighter... but REMOVING ITEMS FROM YOUR CAR AFTER THAT would still make it even more lighter.
omgzors i neva thought ta go strap on a supachahga ta my VTECH!!11 AND DAT WOULD LIKE MAKE IOT FAST NAD DA FURIOUS.
I BET YOU WOULD TOTALLY DINO OUT @ LIKE 1400 HOUSEPOWER IF I HAD 1 OF DEM. LOLZORZ
im sure everone in this forum who spent way more of upwards 7k on there car on non forced induction mods are all probally retards who never thought a supercharger would have been the solution all along to their problems

So I'm guessing you own a car that is not nearly as cool as an S2000 huh? Most people don't buy their cars outright. I'm one of them, however, I own one and can afford my payments without a problem. Do most people buy houses outright? Didn't think so.
What do you drive?
