tein ssp confusion
hey guyz. i got my ssp's awhile ago but i keep forgetting to ask...my manual says 16 way adjustable but when i turn my damper ***** back from the hardest to go softer... it clicks more than 16 times...did i 'f' up my coilovers?...
Interesting topic cause I'm planning on buying coil kit, but always wondered the adjustability.
So, you get even drop all around by counting the clicks, either from the top or from the bottom on each side?

it does click 16 times, but if you turn it again it kinda gets off the "thread". dont click it over. and the clicks do not determine the drop, they determine the spring rate, you can adjust the drop with the wrench by basically turning (like when you turn a nut) this huge nut thing under the coil.
With all the threads how do you know that the left matches the rear if there is no preset click height ex.(say i clicked left front 10 from top, then I'd do the same for the right front too.)

yeah..im talking about the dampening...not the height.my ***** click like...27 times each way.the manual talks about a halfway point where when you reach it.. you got to go back half a click. and that half way point comes at 27 1/2 clicks. sorry if im confusing.

nah man...check it. clicks-im refering to dampening, which is the stiffness of the shock absorber.
the heigth-is adjusted under the spring(coil) after you jack it up and take off a wheel.
the ***** on top have nothing to do with the height of the car.
ill try to find a diagram for you bro.

I just don't get how you get an even height adjustment on all sides if all your going by is threads.

well what i did was line up the coilovers and made sure they were on the same threads. it worked for me. or you can use tape measure and measure from the top to the perches.

i just measure the distance of the start of the thread (silver part on the bottom) to the perches in MM and convert to inches

if you all the way up, you should feel the black cover sort of come up off a thread. this will tell you if have gone too far. turn it slowly so you can actually feel it. btw i suggest you preload the springs if you have bought them new
btw heres more advice. all of the Tein coilovers go over 16 clicks. however, you shouldn't try to go over them. and an easy way to preload is while you are installing the coilovers, after you have attached the 3 strut bolts on the top, put a jackstand under the strut to apply pressure to the spring. this will simulate a "on the ground" scenario for the spring
ahh...its clear to me now i think....all teins go over 16 clicks but if it says 16, its recommended i not go over 16? o and about the preloading...wen i got my coils i kept it the preset for awhile so i think they have already broken in...i just started trying to tune them....thanx for da info by da way. but correct me if i didnt get the point.thanx...
