Default Bearings for LSD question

Hi everyone, I purchased a jdm SiR/SiG tranny (gsr tranny with optional lsd). Now my question is, if i wanted to replace the two bearings on the LSD, would the bearings for the 97 type r lsd work fine. Or would I have to use some other bearings out there?

thanks in advance

they would work fine, but they are the needle bearings that require preload adjustment.

Just buy the '98 large ball bearings and be done with it.

Just don't forget to remove/install the appropriate shims when switching to the new ball bearings

thanks for replies, so get the 98+ ball bearing for both the top and bottom of the lsd? Also, i would just measure the clearance or space leftover to know what shims i exactly need right?

thanks racingangel, i was ordering the bearings i need and i was saw theres two types : "91005-P80-003 BEARING A, TAPER (40X80X17)" and "91005-P80-E31 BEARING, BALL (40X80X18/19.5)" on barancoacura.com. Is the second one, the one your talking about? and if it is the second one, are they also tapered to fit? Heres the url http://www.barancoacuraparts.c...Irno=
the two #17s is what im confused about and also how many to get of what.

91005-P80-E31

that should be the bearings to get. Call up Len to double check and inform him that you want the NON-taper bearings aka large ball bearings found in the 98+ ITR transmissions.

I know for a fact they will fit as I had my 97 ITR transmission rebuild and in the process, installed a KAAZ LSD and replaced the taper bearings with the dual large ball bearings.
