Default stripped shock screw???

I just bought some kyb shocks and i stripped the screw that at the very top under the hood of my 92 H/B and now i cant tighten the nut to it and now i cant to any thing but have the nut only at the very tip. what can i do. is there something to re-thread it. how will this effect my ride,???( not the two on the sides, but the center one, the one that is part of the shock)

sorry not that many people in the suspension forum
