Q for those w/ Neuspeed Race's
I got an awesome deal for a set of neuspeed race springs. (FREE!
)
Question -
Are you riding them with cut bump stops or stock?
Did yours come with rubber sleevings at the ends of the coils? Mine don't have any.. is it necessary for fitment onto stock strut mounts? The Tein S-Techs I'm running now had them when I got them new...
Thanks, cant wait to get em on!
EDIT - Oh and I'm riding a 94 Si. Gonna go w/ GR-2's. Yes I know I need better struts for the springs but I'm gonna be saving up for them. If the GR-2's crap out, they crap out. Then I'll have excuse to get new ones asap so my wallet won't be as sad.

cut my bumpstops in half
and are you talking about the black rubber "gaskets" that go between the spring and the top hat?? just take them off the s-techs when you take them out.

i think i kno what black rubbery thing youre talking about. im riding on neuspeed race springs on stock shocks and i just removed the rubbery thing from my stock springs and reused them. i didnt cut or remove my bumpstops tho. i got my neuspeed race springs for free too

when i originally installed my races, it didn't gimme the desired drop, and i wasn't sure whether the car was sitting on the bumpstops, or if the springs didn't settle yet (they were used)
so i yoinked them out, cut the stops in half, and never looked back
also, by cutting the bumpstops gives the shock more travel when hitting a bump before bottoming out

i have neuspeed race and i love them, tomorrow I am actually installing my Koni Yellows...and am actually thinking about cutting the bumpstops...dunno though.
I believe Neuspeed recommends cutting the bumpstops. I cut mines. It gives that extra inch or so of travel on the stock shocks. No bumpy ride or anything, it just turns on a rail!

just do it. its one of those things of since you're in there anyway, you might as well do it anyway, since it takes like 2 seconds per bump stop.
whats the worst that can happen, you cut some fingers off w/ the xacto??
at least the car will ride better

Thanks for the help, I just finished puttin them on (5 hours due to lack of good tools
)
Yeah I figured the rubber coating should've been on the neuspeed springs, but they weren't. Logic says metal-metal contact = no good. It just puzzled me as to why they weren't there! So I just transferred the ones from the Tein springs to the neuspeeds.
Here she is all done:
(Although, I think I got the sport springs instead of the races, because the drop isn't as low as I expected it to be....)
I'm going to take it for a ride now! :D

your car will settle and get a little lower if the springs were new...if they arent new...then thats as low as they will get. but that drop looks very similar to my current setup.

They're yellow so I figured they'd be Race's. But I did hear that certain ones came in green or something. Forgot where I heard it from..
BUT.. After taking it for a drive, the rear end settled down _alot_. I didn't torque down the jesus nut enough or something because there was some major clunkage goin on, so I stopped, torqued it down, and it sits much lower now w/ no clunks. So they probably are Race's. There's some tuckage goin on too.
Handling wise, well, you all know the deal. Major difference.
I'll take some more pics tomorrow or something.
