Default Built b16 vs Built LS??

Hello, My name is Kyle, and i am new to this fourm... i currently drive a 89 HF CRX with a stock b16, i current aquired a full ls motor (stock), i have the money to build either ore, im planning to boost some time soon... I did some research and the b16 has about 30 more horse power over the ls stock, but im not sure after pistons rods ect which would give better displacement.. also i was told vtec and then turbo was a bad idea..and then again it is a good idea.. so im here just trying to aquire more information about this situation.. if i had two more grand id go k20a but... thats only in my wishes...

Ok, let me start by welcoming you to HT. I see posts like this everyday, at first I was like ok I am going to help this person out. But I am getting to the point that it makes me mad now. Now I see why some of the 04s and lower dont reply to messages like this...Anyways this is going to be the last one I do.

Ok the most usefull info you can find kid is in the FAQ and the SEARCH botton. The FAQ is found on the main page of HONDA CRX/ EF CIVIC. Its is titled "CRX & Civic FAQ Version 2.0". The SEARCH can easily be found at the top right hand corner of your screen. Its the BIG red button that says SEARCH...imagine that.

I understand that in this question the FAQ might not help you out alot but it is still something that I need to point out to you for future reference. Anyways on to the SEARCH...When I just type in b16 in the recent content and just under the crx furoms I came up with 60 results, now in the archive content I find 77.

Right now you might be saying. All those results are just info about the b16...well here lets try search "b16 b18". Hmmm just going under recent content I find 47 posts, and under archive I came across 960. Wow thats alot of pages to read about others asking the same question you are asking.

Now I know this is a long post but like I said I do believe this is going to be the last time I do this. I am not trying to be a dick, its just I believe I do this everyday. Good luck with everything and I dont care to help if you have any questions. Thanks.

Matt

I am well aware how to search FAQ's ect, don't need a crash course on forum's.. I have done a lot of research already, i was simply asking others opinion's, what success have others have had.. i've spoken to everyone aroud my area.. tryin to find others stories behind there madness, i understand there may be posts already.. but im also tryin to learn and meet some new people, who are tryin to do what im doin.

ls/vtec is a ridiculous concept. whoever decided to put a vtec head on a shitty *** ls block should be ravaged by a flock of seagulls. if you ruin a b16 i will find you and make you pay.
seriously, its stupid.

i think it all depends on what u plan on doing with the motor ..is it for a daily driver is it for the strip only or will it be for street and strip use? u said that u want to run a turbo and that u want to build the block dose that include getting it sleaved? the reason that i ask is if you don't plan on sleaving the block but still plan on getting pistons and rods i would say go ls/vtec... if u plan on sleaves go with the b16 ..why do the sleaves matter , its because if u go with them u can increase displacement by boreing the cilinders .. if you don't u will have more displacement with the ls block..i had a boosted stock b16 running 10 psi and was not happy with my low end torque ,so i traded my b16 for a b18b and now im happy with my set up..i lost a little rpm's but i gained low end torque.. just my 2 cents

How i slaping a B16 head on an LS block ruining a torque-less over priced motor?

If he is building the bottom end it really dosen't matter...I honestly say go fully built and boosted LS or Ls/vtec, a stock LS motor can make 300hp boosted what are your power goals?

i've heard form more than one source that if you put a vtec oil pump, it will cure oiling issues, you'll need a vtec water pump because it has more teeth, forged pistons(i was told they don't need the oil jetters) and just drive it. the motor will last depending on how you built it and how you drive it. you rev to 9000 all day then don't get mad when it pops. i have a friend with a b-16 head on a stock ls bottom end and hes been driving it for two years now

i problably left out a lot of **** but it can work if you spend the money and research on it

and screw anyone who corrects my grammar, what a meaningless way to show your an *******, its a forum for hondas.

Yeah who needs the torque on the low end and the extra power on the top end from the extra cam lobe. what a bogus concept. Give me a break. Yeah you may have to spend some extra cash for a blue print and balance on the buttom end to rev higher, but reliable > cheap. It's all about r/s ratio. That is why everyone does the LS/VTEC and CR/VTEC.
