ok i have a 90 si hatch with Jdm b16. i have all the vtec wired up to the ecu. and i bypassed the knock sensor by using a thing found on h-t. anyways im driving and it starts to throw the speed sensor code. i check the cable it broken. will that cause the vtec not to engage?i bought a replacment and will put it in tommrow. but was wondering if that could be why. also if im using a vtec controller. is the knock sensor needed for vtec to work? or will it work off the vafc?

you don't need knock sensor for vtec to work, although you need to take care of the VSS code...Although, I was using a Stage 2 hondata at the time and there may be a knock sensor delete option.

 

the vss code? what is that? the speed sensor? if so i just replaced it today. so you saying i can run vtec off the vafc without the knock sensor?
