B18 LS Swap

My car ran fine before, just was a little hard to start. Then my starter went out. So I finally installed my new starter, and now, the oddest thing happens.

The fuel pump won't stop priming. I went and listened in the engine bay, it sounded like there was a lot of agitation in the fuel rail. It made a *KSSSHHHHH* noise, like a garden hose. When I pinched the return line slightly with my fingertips, the fuel pump output would pulsate between low / normal.

I don't think it's a stuck injector, pretty sure, I took the spark plugs out and didn't smell alot of fuel. When I had an assistant crank the motor, I didn't see/smell alot of fuel coming out the open exhaust.

Any idea what's wrong? Thanks ahead of time!

BUMP, would like a response.

Would a bad fuel pressure regulator do this? Or is it fuel pump? Which one controls and shuts off flow when required Fuel Pressure is reached?

Just would like some help so I can know which one to upgrade. =P

i doubt it the fpr, my aem dosent hold pressure and the pump only primes once, when i turn the key to acc pos.

 

the main relay has 2 circuits one to prime the pump when the key is cycled, then it turns on and is flowing constant the whole time this doesnt sound like a problem, the fuel should always be flowing through the rail when the car is on. thats why there is a return line to the tank. If im not understanding right please correct me, but if anything is the problem (if there is one) would be the main relay

 

D'oh, my apologies.

When you turn the key to ACC, the fuel pump should prime for about 2 seconds then stop BEFORE you attempt to start the car. It primes continuously.

Oh yes, my car doesn't start anymore. =P

Might be just that it's cold and I don't have my coolant temp sensor hooked up, due to that it got ripped out of the main harness. Hopefully it'll warm up a little.

in the process of replacing the started you may have shorted out the starter signal wire which could have effed up ure main relay....it really sounds like a main relay problem to me...i would either yank one from a junk yard or see if someone you know will let you borrow theres to see if it fixes it
