Default Alternator - differences between vtec and non vtec?

I'm just wondering what the differences would be.. is one a different design or in a different location than the other? Or is one more powerful than another, the reason im asking is because im looking to upgrade and i've found both, but i could get the vtec one faster, but i don't have vtec

I dont know the difference..but the VTEC alternator is made for a VTEC motor and the non-vtec alternator is made for the non-vtec motor...trust me dont buy something thats not for your motor..you'll just end up having to wait more time for the right one..wait a couple of extra days and get the right one

you can buy a remanufactured one from autozone or advance auto for about 130 or 140 bucks..plus the core charge...if you want a new one then your gonna be spending about 300 dollars if not more

the alt usd in the car depends upon the trim level and not the engine on those cars. EX has more power goodies and in your case they are different PNs

96 EX-L part #113254
96 LX part #113253

you can use the EX alt with the LX car for the I4s and same for the V6s

Well, I know this might sound dumb, but, if you were to own an LX, and you purchased the EX alternator, it has the higher capacity alternator in the EX, would that work well in an LX where you have a high end power drawing audio system?
