Default Purge cut-off solenoid valve not connected

i noticed that my purge cut-off solenoid valve is not connected and i think it is because the guy who did the mpfi swap on my 88 crx dx couldnt find the wires for it because they had already been cut off of the si harness i got for the swap. He must of just thought that the purge solenoid was not needed. I found the wires, they were in the wire loom with the map sensor wires.
Does anybody know what it does and if anything, what could it affect if it was not connected?
My car throws a code for o2 every once in awhile and could this be caused by the purge solenoid?

purge solenoid is unrelated to O2, it is for releasing vapors from your charcoal canister and is pretty unimportant, your o2 code might be due to backwards wiring or a bad sensor.
hope that helped
