rods info
im tring to think of what rods to pick for my LS-T build not sure if im going vtec yet as it is not needed. i was thinking about getting a set of carrillo, scat, or eagles im sure all should stand up to around 600hp an up HP right.
also just a side question question but anyone running ross pistons and how do they fair agaisnt the arias pistons my favorites

In my opinion, i'd make the list of preference on HIGH hp setups like this:
1. Carrillo
2. Pauter/Manley
3. Crower Billet
4. K1
5. Eagle
For high HP setups over 600, I'd go with a Carrillo myself, or Pauter/Manley.
While many have used Eagles for over 600HP, I would choose a better rod for piece of mind and knowing that you can push it for more HP with out questioning if it will work at higher HP levels.

Agreed, I wouldnt try to push over 500hp out of eagles. I much rather have a manley turbo tuff, carillo or crower (non-econo)

Would you care to go into detail regarding the different types?
Are the Pro-A the lightweight (N/A) rods. Super A in between. and H = H-BEAM mor for turbo/nitrous?

here's a breakdown on the Carrillo rods.
Pro-A lightweight rods come with the 5/16 or 3/8 WMC rod bolts(depending on the application). They can run about avg of 60-80g lighter than the Pro-H depending on the application. I'd use this mainly for All Motor and possibly low HP turbo, but alot have been successful with high hp turbo as well.
Pro-SA(Super-A) are more of your general duty rods(like manley/pauter) and come with 3/8 WMC rod bolts. I'd use these mainly for turbo/nitrous setups.
Pro-H is mainly recommended for high HP type setups. These are the same rods we use for anything we build over 400HP to even over 1000hp. you can purchase with the 3/8 WMC or 3/8 CARR bolts.
3/8 CARR bolts are recommended if you are possibly having to remove the rods and redo and check motors multiple times.
3/8 WMC bolts are good enough if you dont plan to open up the motor and take out rod bolts/caps at all.
Price of 3/8 CARR bolts itself are about $340 for a set for 4 rods.
You cannot just put 3/8 CARR bolts in any other Carrillo rod since it can affect the big end of the rod and you will need to resize the rods to make them fit properly.
If you really want 3/8 CARR bolts in the Pro-SA, then it will be best as a custom order.

dont get me wrong, pauters are good rods. Carrillo has different options for differnt builds, keep that in mind, and the 3/8 CARR rod bolts are great. read up about it on their site. some good info.

personally, we're using ProH in our cars, but we've built engines for customers using the Carrillo SuperA and theyre in the 500-650 range. Theyre just street guys though, not competiting in any of the classes.
