Default normal voltage?

when my car is warming up my voltage is about 14.0+ volts. after warming up and i come to a complete stop the voltage drop down to 12.3-12.4 volts. is this normal? what is the average voltage suppose to be at? when it drops so does everything else dims.

i changed my altanator and battery and it is still having the same problem.
took it to everyshop i know they dont know what the problem is.
please help

its normal, the electronic load detector causes it to drop like that. there are certain criteria that must be met for it to stay at 14v. you can leave your fan on 2 and it will stay on 14v, or if you had a cel, it would stay up. but yes my 95 civic ex dd does it. it annoys the **** out of me.

Im kinda confused, how is ur static voltage 14+ volts?!?!?!?! Another question is what r u using to measure the voltage when ur driving around to come to a complete stop?? Don't get it? Maybe u need to add more information, or re-word what ur saying?? Its kinda confusing....Also JSPECSIR, r u talking about a VAT Machine when u say electronic load detector, cuz from what I know no battery should be 14+V????

i have a voltage meter on my deck. and when im pressing on the gas the meter is full its about 13.9-14.0 volts. when i get of the freeway or something and i come to a comeplete stop the voltage would drop to 12 - 12.3 volts and when it drops the lights dim, windows roll up slower etc...

i was wondering if the voltage is suppose to do that (drop up and down) or is it suppose to stay around the same voltage.

naw its working normal. unless you chip the ecu and turn that feature off, its going to do it. if you turn it off it will stay at 14v all the time. my hid's dont dim though. the ballast use anywhere from like 8-16 volts i think. they put out the same voltage to the bulbs regardless, they will just pull more current to do it.

you would have to chip your ecu. its an option in crome, uberdata, etc.

chipping it is cheap. having someone tune it is expensive.and theres no point in going that far unless you have alot of engine mods. dont worry about it. if you didnt have that volt gauge you would have never known it. it has done it since it was built, its not gonna hurt anything

yes that is a normal voltage. batteries should be 14-15v. when ur driving 12v is still good. but it should never get below under 12v. if u think theres a problem, hook a vat up to the batter and check the cold cranking amps (cca), that'll tell u if the cells have gone bad or not. the battery sounds ok to me anyways. but if u wanna take it a step farther, check the charging system to see if the alternater is still good. to do that u take a vat and check the amperage draw from the alternator with a load test.

its just sucks cause when it rains the wiper swings really slow like below average. i dont notice it in any other car but mine. which chip would i have to buy to turn that feature off to keep the voltage up? this is going on a jdm type r
