Default Msd ?

I have a msd digital-6, and I am thinking of taking it off. I have searched and from what I have read I don't need it, what do you guys think. I have also had some trouble with starting the car, you have spin it over for a few seconds before it will start. Do you think this could be caused by the msd box? Thanks

Msd's tend to be troublesome and unreliable.

I don't see how the msd would cause it to start worse considering that it retards the timing during start to avoid problems with high compression motors starting, plus this is a good ignition for cars that don't have a management system cause you can retard you timing above 3300rpm up to 10 degrees - very nice for high compression motors.

I have had problems when voltage went below 11V, then I had no chance to start the car even if the starter spined the engine fine... check MSD website for more detailes.

It just sucks when people dog on a product for reasons that are not the products fault. If your dropping below 11 volts you have issues. Personaly, 2 years with my msd 6al, which used to be my dads from over 10 years ago, runs flawlessly. Make sure you know how to do wiring, half assing wiring will cause major issues with anything. I don't think you truly need one for hondas, they have good ignition systems already. I used my for the soft touch, being boosted in the past, it was nice not really having to worry about hitting the stock limiter. Just my 2 cents.

We have used the MSD 7al box on our race car for over 3 years and its still running strong... MSD products tend to get a bad rap for issues caused by tuning errors...

I also use the MSD SCI in my daily driver, and its running strong for over 5 years driving 500 miles a week...

Starting problem is back, maybe a distributor problem.
