cleaning a vtec solenoid screen
i searched and wasnt real sure, how would i go about cleaning a vtec solenoid? Some people say the screens can retain dirt and **** so wasnt real sure, mines real dirty also so god knows what it looks lik ein there.
As long as your oil is changed somewhat regularly then you shouldn't have a problem.
But, all you do is pop off the solenoid, remove the gasket/filter assembly, clean the filter, put it back on (but I would recommend getting a new gasket from Honda as the old one is more than likely...old...and might start to leak, it's like $5 if I remember right)

I replaced both filter/gaskets on the vtec solenoid and i think it cost me around $25 for Genuine OEM Honda parts. Its worth it. You could probably find it online for cheaper, but will end up paying shipping. Just make a quick trip to your local Honda dealer.

The one that I got from the Acura dealer for my B18C1 (just the side gasket/filter...not the top one) was $7 if I remember right...genuine OE part

It would appear that they rape us hard at the dealership in Cali.
