Default broken down

okay so my 97 civic hatch just broke down. so i need help in figuring it out what exactly it is. well it started that the clutch didnt feel the same and i couldnt throw it in gear...then when it just slow down cuz it was in nuetrel i couldnt throw it any gear except reverse and it started making like a dragging noise even though i wasnt dragging anything. so i pulled it home with my foot on the clutch all the way and it rolled fine and no grinding but if i let go of the clutch pedal it would make noise
if i can get response it would be greatly appreciated thanks

could be a bad throw out bearing mine is realy noisy and makes it hard to go into revers. ( id replace mine but i am getting a new trans soon) try putting it in forth then in revers that seems to do the trick for my tranny.

yeah like the other guy told you it sounds like a throw out bearing if it goes away when you put the clutch in (it takes puts pressure on the bearing so that it cant wilgle around and make noise) its not an expensive part but you need to remove the tranny to replace it. if you are on an older clutch you would probly want to do that at the same time. so you don't have to take the tranny out again when that starts to go.

if the clutch pedal is not pressed and you hear the noise is more likely the input shaft bearing not the throwout bearing. TOB makes a noise when the pedal is pressed because thats when its being used.

well im out of ideas

if you got the money get it towed to the garage and have them look it over it hard to diagnose from a couple states away
if its a good garage they should be able to tell you what wrong without to much money invested in labor and may be they can get it fixed in that first hour of labor charge too.

hopefully its just a bearing the run between 10 and 40 dollars i believe

good luck man

may be some one else here has a better idea of whats going on

if you bring it to a shop, they will most likely recommend that you replace the clutch and all bearings at once.
