hondata reflash problems!!!!
hey my friend has an 07 Si sedan and got the hondata reflash about 2 weeks ago and it was working fine, it was pretty animal considering the car was stock! it worked well for about a week then he said his cruise control didnt work then he said is stereo went all nuts so he took it to the dealer and told them he got the hondata reflash,so they removed his ECU and replaced with another one and it everything worked fine! to my suprise the gave hime a new ECU but now he just lost a crap load of money! im in the prosses of saving up to get the reflash as well but now im not so sure any advice for me and my friend! and some feedback from people withe the hondata reflash would be a world of good thanks!!!!
Sorry but I dont have the reflash. But from Hondatas web site it says that the you really wont see any gains on a stock car. Most gains were from the Hondata IMG inconjuction with and Intake or exhaust or a combination of the 2 or header.
I beleive that some people had problems with the cruise control not working anyway, regardless of the Hondata reflash. Your friend should have contacted Hondata first and see waht they said. Second he should have told the dealer that his ECU was reflashed. Third if they replaced his ECU with a new one he should have gotten his flashed ECU back. My advice would be to tell your friend to contact Honda as well as Hondata, he should have told Honda that his ECU was reflashed.
You will see better gains with the reflash on your car because of your mods.
Good Luck

i had the same problem with the cruise control, the same day i put it in it did not work, but the next it did so i dont understand what happened, but it works now.
get the ecu back from the dealership! he needs to call hondata as well because they might work with him, but i wonder if honda will touch his car again if he goes reflash immediately after. and hondata TELLS u on the website not to get the reflash if the car is stock. it is RECOMMENDED to have aftermarket parts such as intake and exhaust etc. and there have been other threads discussing how the reflash on a stock car will have negative effects. first and foremost, get the ecu back from honda.
can one of hte techs that work at a stealership get the ecu with a reflash and hook it into their own personal si and have just gotten the flash for free? something to look into

That has nothing to do with his cruise and stereo acting strange.

thats a wicked good call, esp since they just did the work and gave you a new one under warrenty. at my dealership that would NEVER happen, UNLESS that circumstance. and im sure as well as every other one around, not to put dealers and mechanics down, but im in the business, and if someone is that dumb.....

I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure part of the security of the newer honda's is the "chip in the key". I'd assume the ECU would only start the car if it recognized the key. To me it would seem that if you changed an ECU without reprograming the key or ECU to coincide, that you wouldn't be able to start it. Although, if they work at the dealer, they'd probably be able to do that anyway.

if you work there, you have the access to the little comp they use to plug in and program, it would be an easy thing, just need the tools.

Okay i'm lost. Are we still talking about the same reflash cause the dealer reflash and hondata reflash are two different things although the hondata does incorporate the dealer reflash into their upgrade.

No doubt... He makes it sound like cruise quit working because he didn't have an intake. lmao

you'd need to have each car programmed to the ecu.
usually 75 @ honda.
