Problems after auto to manual swap *SERCHED
I have spent about 2 hours searching trying to find the answer but I have no luck. I finished my auto to manual swap on my 94 coupe and I'm having some problems with the wiring on the harness that used to plug into the auto shifter assembly. I connect the 2 fat black wires together just to see if i could get it to start, and I get nothing. I then took a wire and ran it from the positive batt terminal to the smaller starter post with the key to on and it fired right up just fine. Any ideas on what could be causing the car not to start? I even de pined the 2 fat wires and twisted them together to make sure they had perfect connection.

at the bottom of the write up, he explains on how to wire the shifter wires....go over it and see if its done right...good luck

Now this is pretty easy, but then again i love electrical. But all you need to do is connect 5 wires total. One of the plugs that you disconnected from the auto shifter is a 14P plug. Cut the plug off. Your going to have a 2 thick blk wires and 1 blk/blu wire, Solder those 3 together. Those together lets your car think its in park and releases the key and starts your car. Important
Next there is a yel/red wire and a grn/blk wire. Doesnt matter what way they go they do the same. These are for your reverse lights. Connect some line to them and run it through the firewall to your reverse light switch. And your set"

I have gone over it and done it just like that. Except for the fact that I think just the ek has the black with blue stripe? I have connected the 2 fats and the black to the green with white stripe and I still get nothing. Any other suggestions?

any fuses in paticular? i checked the starter signal under the dash already and it looked fine, maybe ill throw a new one in to be sure...

Just check them all along with your main relay. Reason being is that your car should act exactly the same as before if those 2 are connected. Now you are connecting the 2 thick wires that are in the center of the plug right?
Yep, I de pined them and connected them up....I can hear the main relay click and the fuel pump primes so I know that is all good. The only way I have got the car to start is hot wiring the smaller starter terminal straight to the positive side of the battery with the key switched to the on position.
what you trying to do is trick the car to think it's still in park. I say exam your auto shift assembly and if you have to, reconnect it back together. There should be a slider, which tells your car what position the shifter is in. After you find that figure out which one is for the park position, mostly likely the furthest forward. Then connect that wire with the fat ones. I don't know exactly how a 5th gen civic assembly looks like, but if it's anything similar to 6th gen, then that should help.

I was so happy to get that auto **** out I threw it away so I have no way of doing that. I have tried basically every wire combo and still nothing is working.

Sorry if this replay is a little late but I recently got home from work. Dug through some stuff and found the following two images about the wiring that might be of interest. There's something that seems to be going on with the blk/wht wire going from the start position of the ignition switch (left corner of pic A) to the shift position console and leaving through a red/blk wire to the ecu, possibly to give the ecu a signal to start the car. And also in pic B there's some grn/wht wire involved, but it may just be used to illuminate the P in your guages.

I am still on my first project car so this is about as much as I know.

The ecu and auto shifter being in park doesnt matter, those are myths. If the Park one matters he shouldnt be able to take his key out, which i believe he can. Theres something wrong in your connection somewhere that your going to have to look. Either the little tab on the starter or somewhere in the harness.
