Default cooling issues.

I own a 93 wagon ex. Just replaced the water pump, running it with NO thermo stat, brand new radiator. Whyle i drive it, the dam heat starts to slowly go up, and reaches the Red mark. I dont understand wtf could the problem be.

HeadGasket? Heatercore? My heater in the car, dosent work. So at this point in time, i really dont know wtf is wrong with the car, and how i can get it to stop heating up.

when it's heating up have you checked both hoses going into and out of the radiator for pressure and heat? (by grasping them one at a time and feeling the heat and pressure) are both of them the same temperature or is the return colder and lower pressure than the intake to the radiator?

does this occur while you're driving at all times or does it only rise when you're not moving?

put the t-stat back in, that can sometimes do more harm then good by removing it.

did you properly bleed your system? air in the system can cause overheating problems.

are you losing any coolant at all?

does it only overheat during stop-n-go and/or low speed driving 30-40mph and under. if so, it can be your fans. any speed above 40 or so fans arent effective

you mentioned your heater core isnt working, double check your water pump. the reason your getting no heat is maybe due to water not ciruclating to the heater core. so warm water in the block gets even hotter and cold water in the core doesnt get pushed out and replaced by hot water.

I put back the t-stat, this only occurs, stop and go. Not on the freeway, or highway. ONly when i am at lights, or dead stop. I took out the fan relay, to check and that works. When i shut the car off, the fan starts up.

Anyway of blocking out the heater core? I know that it circulates, to the heater core, to cool down a bit, but i got a gut feeling that the heater core is it. NOt sure thou.

you're able to remove the heater core by installing a loop in place of it. I personaly wouldn't suggest this, but the option is there if you truly wish to do so.

so far it sounds to me your fans are not working sufficiently. you should look further into this. there should be two fans. at a certain temp both should kick on. maybe only one is working. i dont know too much about the function and wiring of the fans so maybe someone more knowledgable can chime in.

Yea i see what ur saying, i dont wnat to either. So i will wait of on this. I am gonna take it to the mechanic in the morning. but if i can figure it out, i can buy me a 15 pack of fat Tire beers <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by pos_cd5 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">so far it sounds to me your fans are not working sufficiently. you should look further into this. there should be two fans. at a certain temp both should kick on. maybe only one is working. i dont know too much about the function and wiring of the fans so maybe someone more knowledgable can chime in.</TD></TR></TABLE>

The thing with the fans is this, the relays both of them look good. One fan is apparently for ur "ac" even thou mine dosent work. The other is ur primary one for ur engine, as i was told. when i drive around the city, 45 and below i dont hear the fan turn on, if it gets hott. THe moment i shut off the car, the fan will kick on. I dont know if thats the way it works or not? any clue.

along side the firewall, there is this rubber tube, that has a metal **** on it with a wire. I believe its the on/off for the heater core? i dont know the name of it, but i believe thats what its function is. U can pull it towards and away from teh bbumper, i believe its tied to one of the **** switches in the car. Maybe the heater/cooler ****. Anyone know whether the ON or open position is towards the bumper or away towards the firewall...... COuld that have something to do with it.
\

By the way, my ***** inside the car, stopped working one day. I dont know why&gt; it was a very weak color, when u hit the ac or cold air to ur foot and face button. Then they all stopped working. WOuld that be a relay issue? Or would could be that the buttons are old as expletive, and i need new ones.

THanks for the hELp

Ok so i went to this mechanic. He checked it out, and told me that my cooling fan relay was bad, and i needed a new one. So i got one, thinking problem solved....... NOTTTTTTTT. I Really dont know what else could possibly be causing the car to heat up. I just put in a brand new water pump. COuld it be the oil pump? my only guess is my heater core, is either leaking, or something. My ac and heater dont work, when u press the climate control functions, non of the lights come on, or funtion like they would. what could cause this?

Don't panic.

Let your engine run in idle in your driveway.
Open the hood so you can observe the radiator fan operation.
Let the engine get up to temp.
Watch the temp gauge carefully so it won't reach the red zone.
When the temp gauge is about halfway, both fans should run.
If the fans don't run, shut engine OFF before it overheats.

If the fans don't run, test each fan by disconnecting the plugs.
You can jump +12V and ground to the plug and see if the fan runs.
Then everything else will be self explanatory.

Go through this link, and see if any of it sounds familiar. Good luck.
