ls and gsr tranny question

my buddy has a 92 hatchy with a b16 a1 with a hydro conversion, and he asked me is gsr transmission gears can go in an ls transmission and work on his b16 so can he do this ?

Am i missing something? Why not just get a gsr tranny?
