I have some cheapo unit (can't remember the brand, I put it in 7 years ago) with a fuel cutoff and starter kill. Installed it myself in about two hours and only paid $100 for it. Only problem is that it doesn't have a motion/vibration sensor on it, it only goes off if the dome light turns on. But the kill switches still work .

And if you have ANY sort of modification done to your vehicle put an alarm on it. I never saw too many older Civics in my area when I first bought my hatch so I didn't think anybody would want to steal it. WRONG. It got stolen and stripped when it was still mostly stock, now I am extremely cautious with it.

seven years old. thats too old. go and get a new and spend about 250 on it. clifford or viper. there pretty much the same brand just different name. i also suggest you get and auto lock. it like 60-70 bucks. you couls also get a detachable steering wheel. you should be fine with all that. alarm, kill switch, auto lock and detach wheel. your good. just stop tell people what you have in your car.

You can do a million things, but theives can always do more if they want to.

it comes down to keeping a low profile.

drive slow in your neiberhood, take lisence plates off at the track/strip. dont bragg about your swap

Ive got a viper alarm and paid $600

I think a garage is better that an alarm, if you can find one. outa site outa mind

I have an Enforcer...paid $300 installed, 3 years ago. Has motion, glass breakage, both doors, hood and hatch sensors. Installer hooked up power door locks too which locks the car automatically when you start the motor, unlocks when you shut it off (lock/unlock switch on the dash too)...I have a garage so I'm not really worried about anyone stealing my car at night...It's when I drive it during the day I'm worried about. Oh, I put one of those steering wheel release hubs too..Won it at an autoX race a while back.

alarms get a good kill switch or switches then your car will not be stolen

I have a prestige from about two years ago, with power lock/unlock and remote trunk release. The alarm works alright, except the range sux and the solenoids aren't that good for the trunk release. I usually get viper with my cars. I will continue to follow that trend from now on.

That's my next investment after my car was jacked in January. (**** being poor )

Anything by DEI (Directed Electronics Inc.) has good reviews. They make a lot of the "name brand" (Viper, etc.) stuff.

OP: Check out the security thread stickied at the top of the Audio/Security/Video forum. There is a **** TON of great info in that thread!!!!!!

The autopage alarm has saved my car 3 times now. And kill switches, and autolock. Nuff said.

well they do help if your window is right by your car. and theyre not too expensive. I have one ill sell ya for 60 shipped. wait whoops im not supposed to say that.

No really though. they are worth it. I never had anyone try to steal/break into my car ::KNOCKS ON WOOD:: but they're nice. I had someone bump into my crx and i know they would of drived away if i didnt hear the alarm going off and went out side.

I got a viper, already on the car when I bought it but im sure u can search google and find prices. the only bad thing is since I live in ohio, when it gets really windy it sets the alarm off in the middle of the night. very sensitive, like my girlfriend(crx comes first)

I am going to get something,

first and most important I am getting my conceal carry and a glock 23 next january, because honestly no one misses a dead thief

but I also got my system jacked. My car was completely stock except for the engine. I will not repeat the same mistake twice this time around, so i will be getting alarm.

edit: and yes I would kill someone who would try to take a sound system. A sound system is not worth a life, but no one would miss someone who deprived others of their hard earned money because they were ********. In the state that I live I would be justified too.
