Instructions should dictate the level of cutting. I know when I installed a friend's S-Tech's, it specified different cuts for different vehicles and springs (S-Tech vs H-Tech).
i got kyb agx's and eibach sportlines. about 1.5" drop
i cut the stops in half. the springs instructions said 35mm so i just did half.
