Looks nice but rides like crap, my EK was slammed with cut springs but was bouncy as hell on bad roads. If you do decide to cut your springs instead of pulling out the cut part wind it down into the springs to make it a bit stiffer.

also, i was told by 2 shops that you can cut the springs with electric cutter instead of the torch and it will help a bit.

it's just so strange when i had a vacation last december...(asia) everybody's doing it. i mean cutting springs. i spoke to a couple of guys and they said that the ride was not that horrible. it all depends on who cut it(cannot cut it like just that). honda's a good candidate.

one shop told me that you need to measure the cut while the springs are sitting on the struts. and yeah all of them cut the front springs only(dive look) and not the rear. i dunno if that will make a difference. some of them are not for cost cutting though. co'z i saw their cars and their houses. they normally buy eibach stuff and cut em.

i was almost tempted to buy a guys cut springs on his honda sir and bring them over.

well imma go with fullcoilovers but cutting springs i think is very risky

damn i havent seen anyone cut springs since like at least 4-5 years ago. even some no name springs/coilovers are damn cheap now anyways...but you get what you pay for.

don't do it one of my dumb *** frainds did it to his 93 and blew all 4 shocks within a week rode bounced like crazy. he baught a new car (2000 civic ex) and got some cheep *** coilovers and the same thing happened. save your money and do it the right way and you wil not regret it.

The biggest problem w/ cut springs, is that you have no Idea what sort of spring rates you have after you do it. Also, there is NO WAY to cut both sides so they come out w/ the same spring rate. This will give your car dangerous handling problems. Imagine you slam on the brakes to save your life & the car leans to one side, causing your car swerve into oncomming traffic.

Your next problem is that taking a spring & removing some of the coils will cause the spring to become much stiffer (less wire = harder spring). This is why your car will be crazy bouncy. The severe stiffness of the springs can't be overcome by the shocks & will cause them to be destroyed. Now you need new shocks, and that cost much more than really good lowering springs. Also, this will just happen again & again.

ive cut the coils on the last 3 impots ive owned and i think is such a better ride than coilovers or lowwering springs i bought an accord with coilovers and after 2 week of driving with them i went to the junk yard and bought stock coils and i cut all of them and the rode and looked better that aftermarket **** just dont be stupied and cut them to short if u do it right and take ur time it will be fine and i would post a pic of my eg with the cut springs but i dont know how to post a pic

You can cut springs as long as you don't go crazy low. Anything less than 1" will work. I have done. I used a pnuematic angle grinder to cut.

spring rate (k) varies inversely with the number of coils(n). k = 1/n. Removing slightly (less than 10mm) different amount of coils will not change the spring rate much. With the above formula, if you know the orginal spring rate, you can calculate what the new spring rate will be and compare that what other aftermarket springs.

honestly i wouldnt do it, but alot of people where im from cut springs. ive seen cars ride like **** and ive seen cars ride like u wouldnt even think the springs were cut. if its gonna be temporary till u get new shocks/coilovers than it could be ok if u dont go too low, and plan on buying some real stuff not too far down the road

ive had the same cut coils on my civic for 3 years and ive never had a problem aslong as u dont get stupied with it you will be fine and i think it rides better than the coil overs i had any way so grow and set of ***** and cut ur spring.
and you guys are acting like people all over the contry and cutting there spring and wrecking there car. when i was in high school and we were all poor every one cut there coils and there was never a promlem i could see if we were all going to school and and it looked like the blues brothers car crash part than yes i wouldnt be saying it ok to cut you coils but i do not know any one that hase ever had a problem and if the did that there retarts
