So I went to fill up the tank the other day after inspection (the first tank of gas I've put in the hatch) and that bad boy hissed a lot when I took it off. It did pass the inspection pressure test though.

Anyone else have this happen? It's an 89 DX all stock w/ 182k on it. Just thought it was odd.

 

From what I've heard, you have problems if it DOESNT hiss when you take off the gas cap.

 

Normal. Mine always does it. If it doesn't do it, you have an evap leak somewhere.

theres a reason why they pressure test it.. because its under pressure when your driving.

if the gas tank is under pressure then its going to hiss.. you dont have a problem.

 

Yeah, it's a pressurized system so that's completly normal.
