I just installed a set of OEM foglights on my bumper. Everything fits and lines up well on the outside, however, the top of the driver side foglight is hitting the frame of the car right above it whenever there is a slightest vibration or even when the car is idling.

Has anyone ran into this problem before? And, aside from sticking a piece of foam or rubber between the foglight and the frame piece it's hitting, is there anything else that can be done to fix this?

You can either put some butyl foam rubber .... or beat in the area on your car it's vibrating against with a BFH.

The area it's hitting against is not something I can grind off and I am not sure if it's something that can be hammered in enough to clear it. I'll look at it more closely tonight, but I don't think either is an option.

What's the rubber foam solution that is mentioned a couple posts up?

You can get butyl rubber foam from most professional car audio shops. They use it to pack between panels to prevent vibrations and rattles.

 

My concern is in how to attach something like that to the foglight, or having it rub against consistently since the foglight itself gets super hot when it's on. Thoughts?

 

The body of the foglight doesn't get that hot. I'd attach it to the car instead of the foglight housing. You could use some wire and just wrap it around and twist it off.

Well, I called pretty much every audio store in my area, and no one has Butyl Foam Roubber (not sure if it's an actual brand). I got something similar made by Cascade Audio, but it does look a little flimsy. The good part is that it's sticky on one side, so I can double them up and stick it to the frame location where it's rubbing. But yeah definitely going to see if I can do anything with the BFH first - I am sure that constally hitting even a soft surface is not good for the foglight, so it would be much better to eliminate contact alltogether.
