Viton valve seals?
I've been searching fo a while and can't seem to get a deff answer on this. When I had my head assembled my builder reccomended Fel pro viton valve seals I had him put them in. Recently I've had a buddy tell me that the same builder used them in his head and the exhausts leaked badly. I need to know if anyone else has had any experience with these seals before I change them.

the only difference in the material is that it is a little harder and much more resistant to heat
I think oem itr seals are viton
usually you can tell if its viton if its RED rubber

I've had good luck with aftermarket seals as long as they are steel shelled like the stockers.Every problem I have had with aftermarket seals, they were the all rubber (or all viton) ones with wire bands around the guide area. They often pop off the guides.

yeah.....I'd have to say that they leak because this set of blue viton seals I just got don't come with the two different sized seals for intake and exhaust....they use one "universal" size.
Intake valves are about .001 in diameter different from exhausts, which is why you have the white spring and black spring seals. Helms states clearly not to mix them. That's why those damn things leak...I guarantee it. Now here I am with a set of these f*ckers and this ****'s gonna leak watch.

I just did a set of fel-pro seals on my B18A engine, they were completely blown before and leaking quite badly. The new ones looked just like the old ones - metal base with a rubberized coating on the inside and a shaped cap with the spring ring. Looked identical to OEM, and seem to work all right as well. I don't know if they're leaking a little bit or not, my only gauge is that it's no longer puffing big clouds of smoke
I can't comment on their resistance to high power or how their VTEC seals are, when I rebuilt the VTEC head I used OEM seals. Hope that helps somewhat though

And play in the valve means it hurts the seal.
On the intakes, we usually run a Polyacrylic seal and Viton on the exhaust.
