New to the Integra
I just recently sold my 2005 Dodge SRT-4 with 35,000 miles 250whp and 290wtq, progress springs, maddog 72% short throw shifter (entire assembly), Bwoody upper and lower motor mounts, agp waste gate actuator, 3" cti side exit exhaust and 20% window tint. The car handled well, had the power to take a lightly modded EVO/STi from anything but a dig and has a stock quaife LSD.
I was looking in to spending $8-10,000 on a 50-60,000 mile GSR and had some questions...
What will I put down for WHP with an intake/race header/catless exhaust?
What will I be able to hit for track times at the drag strip with those bolt ons?
How well will this car do at the road course with springs, sway bars and strut bars?
Is Hondata available for the GSR? and how much will it affect the hp or the car by it self or with I/RH/E? WHP numbers? Track times?
I thought about going turbo with the GSR but I wondered what I will be looking at for total investment on a tuned basic, safe and reliable turbo kit on a GSR with the neccessary supporting mods, how well it will do at a road course with NO LSD, and how much of an issue traction will be with no LSD at the drag strip, and what I could count on for track times.
How reliable are these cars under hard driving? What are there weak points? Are the transmissions, motors, clutches and other expensive components up to the task of handling 200-250whp, the drag strip and road courses as well as daily driving? These would be on occassion. I am under the impression that Integras, Preludes and Civics can take the hard driving without a hickup but I could be wrong.
What are the pros and cons of this car, I am comming from a car that was running low 13's but now I am on a budget other wise I would be in an EVO/STi/Legacy GT or something else. I don't want a Type S because it's too expensive for what I want to accomplish. I want a fun car I can drive the **** out of (within reason, mixed as a daily drive but be able to take to the drag strip, put down good numbers, the road course maybe) and not have to always worry about OH crap what did I break, am I running my motor into the ground. I want low 14's to high 13's and may not boost the car if it's very acheivable on motor, but how easy is it to get high 13's, low 14's consistantly on just motor, what would it take on street tires? I dont have a ton of cash, and it'd be a good amount of time before I went turbo if at all.

Hey,welcome to honda-tech,to start off, hondas are fun cars, your going to see that its alot better then dodges(gas mileage) or ect.....
Also youll love vtec, expecally for a integra gsr,the only problem wiht those is that there the top stolen car...ever..Im gonna say youll run 14s with a stock gsr,but hondas have tons of potential...your choice of turbo or non,im going non cuz i need my cars reliability...
Lsd isnt going to be a big factor,i dont have it and its fine without it,if u need lsd get a type r lsd tranny,i got a b16 and on the highways im at vtec at 90
...
your other option is to get a nice old coupe(ex:90's coupe) teake out the old d16 and swap it out for a gsr...probably save money and not get ur **** stolen
.
Either way good luck...if you have any questions feel free to aim me at mrocketman3 or pm me
Peace

GSR"s are top notch cars , anything honda=TOP NOTCH reliability, stock you can run anything from 15.0 to 15.8 depending on how you drive. A gsr can EASILY be modified in the slightest to run 14.5"s all day. Very good cars. Ive seen them run 13"s all motor , or 12"s with a turbo , with a turbo i think its a better platform than a SRT-4. With I/H/E your looking at 14.6-14.9"s , add ecu and your deeper into the 14"s , add some cams , even deeper. The only down falls i think Hondas have are CV"s , ive been threw a few with hard driving. These cars take TONS of abuse , just change your oil regular , do regular maintenance and youll be fine. One thing that plagues these cars though is the notrious 3rd gear grind.
Being in Maine, I've got to assume you're heading to NHIS. Turn 3's gonna be a killer without LSD, but there are plenty of showroom stock cars that have no choice but to stick with it.
You can do a quaife LSD in a GSR, although it ain't cheap. The Quaife is $1k. Expect to pay $300-$500 for full installation.
I don't see a ton of integras on the track between schools and time trials, but in SCCA, they do pretty well in IT. With the mods you're planning already, I think the car's going to be fun, if not super fast. It won't be as fast as the lighter SRT-4 you came out of.
I'm currently working on gathering parts and knowledge to put a GSR motor into my 1st gen....1600 pound CRX racecar. I've got the motor and a DA cable tranny and a ton of mounts (and a welder :D). Gotta figure out the axle situation....got a pile of those from 3 different types of Hondas as well.
Have fun. If you happen to do COM, BMW or SCDA, my red CRX is #198 this year.
