New to the 97-02 Prelude
I just recently sold my 2005 Dodge SRT-4 with 35,000 miles 250whp and 290wtq, progress springs, maddog 72% short throw shifter (entire assembly), Bwoody upper and lower motor mounts, agp waste gate actuator, 3" cti side exit exhaust and 20% window tint. The car handled well, had the power to take a lightly modded EVO/STi from anything but a dig and has a stock quaife LSD.
I was looking in to spending $8-10,000 on a 50-60,000 mile H22 Prelude and had some questions...
What will I put down for WHP with an intake/race header/catless exhaust?
What will I be able to hit for track times at the drag strip with those bolt ons?
How well will this car do at the road course with springs, sway bars and strut bars?
Is Hondata available for the Prelude? and how much will it affect the hp or the car by it self or with I/RH/E? WHP numbers? Track times?
I thought about going turbo with the H22 but I wondered what I will be looking at for total investment on a tuned basic, safe and reliable turbo kit on a GSR with the neccessary supporting mods, how well it will do at a road course with NO LSD, and how much of an issue traction will be with no LSD at the drag strip, and what I could count on for track times.
How reliable are these cars under hard driving? What are there weak points? Are the transmissions, motors, clutches and other expensive components up to the task of handling 200-250whp, the drag strip and road courses as well as daily driving? These would be on occassion. I am under the impression that Integras, Preludes and Civics can take the hard driving without a hickup but I could be wrong.
What are the pros and cons of this car, I am comming from a car that was running low 13's but now I am on a budget other wise I would be in an EVO/STi/Legacy GT or something else. I don't want a Type S because it's too expensive for what I want to accomplish. I want a fun car I can drive the **** out of (within reason, mixed as a daily drive but be able to take to the drag strip, put down good numbers, the road course maybe) and not have to always worry about OH crap what did I break, am I running my motor into the ground. I want low 14's to high 13's and may not boost the car if it's very acheivable on motor, but how easy is it to get high 13's, low 14's consistantly on just motor, what would it take on street tires? I dont have a ton of cash, and it'd be a good amount of time before I went turbo if at all.

Most of the info you need can be answerd by using the search feature.
Question 1: Around 180whp 140trq
Question 2: If you are a good driver... high 14's to very low 15's
Question 3: Preludes are best for handeling... draging isnt somthing any honda is the best at. Preludes own road coarses.
Question 4: Yes Hondata is available
Question 5: H22 + Boost = awsome. I would do alot of research to get a good setup for road coarses. LSD is very important btw.
Question 6: It can take some beating if you build it right. Prelude SHs cant handle much more than 250whp with the atts unit intact. Automatic lude trannys break easy.
Question 7: Preludes are reliable as long as you do regular maint.
Heres a couple boosted ludes that would blow the doors off your srt4 lol. Enjoy and welcome.
