Default RPM Things

Hello again
I hope you will give me some ideas about whats happening to my car. i have 98 Accord coupe with f23a1 engine. i replaced oem header and cat with obx products. now i have a problem. while im driving (car warmed up) when i'm stopping for example on traffic lights, rev's dropping to ~400 sometimes less, staying there for 3-5 sec's and coming back to normal ~800. i,ve tried to put some CEL (or MIL) eliminators, but nothing succesfull. of couse i've reseted ecu, tried to replace rear o2 sensor but ineffectively . and by the way i have CEL on of course. this thing is hapening only when car is warmed up. no emission changes noticed. i think that maybe this can be because of removed cat... im not an expert on these things so maybe You'll know something. Thank You Indeed

check the CEL code and tell us what it says.

this is for a civic, but it's similar for an accord.

The OP has an OBD2 system, and there will not be a blue 2 pin service check connector;[OBD1 uses the 'flash codes'] The best info is to have the code read with a scan tool.

OBX doesn't make a high-flow cat, only a test-pipe/resonator. Because of this, I'm sure that at the very least there is a code for the cat.

Either way, you need to get the code(s) pulled.

^^^ I agree with phil. Sounds like you purchased a test pipe. And either it didnt come with the O2 sensor bung or it did and now your O2 sensors getting different temperature then when you would have had a cat in place. If you get the Code cleared you'll probably see it come back again.

That's nothing but a resonator. You currently have no catalytic converter on your car. Reinstalling your OEM cat and resetting your ECU will eliminate the code for the cat.

You should still get the code(s) pulled, in case you have other problems.

theres cat simulators available. I don't know exactly how it works, but its a weld in bung that you install into a test pipe, and it simulates that there is a cat installed so it doesn't throw codes. Sorry for lack of info, but i've seen it here somewhat recently in the accord forums.

The OP mentioned them already, so I didn't bring the subject back up.

sotry continues... i puted back the cat to check will things change. it won't. then (finally) i get malfunction code which is: P0135 . in Autodata software i found that this is the o2 sensor , probably front. But most interesting thing is that i have replaced front sensor, so can be the problem with extension wire ?(i got to extend o2sensor wire because of other location of sensor on new manifold) . or maybe it's the rear sensor... of course best way to check ,is to replace both of them i think..
