GAS PEDAL PROBLEM
with in the last couple of month's my gas pedal is really stiff when you let off it is hard to kick it down: once it is down it works fine until i have to stop at a red light then in order to go when the light turns green is to press hard on the gas pedal and lunge forward any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....
I tried cleaning the throttle spring and i put WD-40 on the pedal but nothing has fixed it.....
thanks,
christy

don't use wd-40, it's not a lubricant. did you guys bother adjusting the cable? try that as well. not sure why this happens, it happens to me when i don't let my car warm up, which is somthing that need to be done anyway. do you guys let the car warm up first before driving?

My car has the same problem... cold and hot. Im thinking its the throttle cable that needs adjusting. That should give a little play in the pedal before engaging right?
Always let my car warm up. until the normal honda high idle at first goes down to normal. i actually just got my swap done, it hasnt been botherin me enough yet to mess with it. any other ideas? ill mess with it tonite.
mine did the same thing when it had a small bend in it. replaced the throttle cable and the problem went away.
it could also be your throttle body is gunked up. Check that first.

Our 98 is like that. I keep meaning to get around to replacing the throttle cable, but I haven't yet. It's kind of embarrassing to drive like that.. it's like full throttle or nothing because of that place where it binds up and then finally lets go. :D

This is normal. I have put up with so many in my shop it is almost unbelievable.
For all of you here is what I have done so you don't go down the same road.
New throttle cable
Adjusted with slack so the cable deflects 5mm. (By the book)
Removed the throttle body and throughly cleaned and sanded the carbon spots between the throttle plate and the body.
Also do not use any lubricant's on the actual throttle cable as it causes it to bind.
I have tried graphite, oil, grease, and others.
So my conclusion to this is that the throttle body has worn around the throttle shaft and a little air is seeping through where the shaft goes through the TB.
Thus the oil that I have applied gets sucked into the TB after about a week.
So when it starts to stick I add more oil and it works for two weeks and so on.
Hope this helps you all out.
