SERIOUS PROBLEM - GAS PEDAL STICK
OK. I posted a while back in here...but no replys or help. BUT NOW, I got a realllllll problem. A couple of months back I said that the gas peddle was stickin' a lil. WELLLLllll NOOooowww i was driving home, and I came to a light, and the peddle stuck REAL bad and rev'ed at 3,500 while I was ATTEMPTING to stop for a red light. Talk about one of the problems you DONT want when your actually driving!
Anyway, Ive attempted to spray the whole damn thing down with a bottle of silicone, and reg. conventional oil. NOTHING, it works for a day, then goes right back to **** again the next day.
Its not the cable, its definatlely something with the pivot on the peddle. Please, any ideas before this thing really puts me in a predicament. Also, its my daily driver. So im STUCK.

Vacuum leak? Hows that possible. Theres a stick in the peddle itself.
The PIVOT on the GAS PEDDLE is sticking. I cant get it lubed up enough to stop.

Oh, sorry i read wrong then.
Take off the whole peddle assembly and lube that ****** up with some thick **** and it should be good.

To be honest with you, i have NO CLUEEE how to do it. I been staring at it a dozen times already. NO CLUE how to dissassemble it. Also, if its gonna take more than a couple of hours, I wont have time to do it... and I dont wanna bring it in to the monkey wrenches to screw up (so to speak).
Is there any possibility of taking the pivot part (the pedal) apart, or getting in there. Ill spend an hour in there if I goto to avoid taking the whole damn thing out.
Any ideas? Or what about grease, lithium grease and standard oils arent working at all.

its alot more work trying to do it still in the car then out of the car. If its a first time thing it will take a good couple of hours to finish the job. Its not easy. It puts you in very ackward possitions.
Edit: Theres a piece that goes through the peddle that holds it and allows it to move (cant think of a name for it right now) but that is what needs to be lubed up more then likely.

Well, that I seen. The way I had to get in there was a realllll pain in the asz.
But yea, thats the pivot Im talking about. Ive already tried to hit it with silicone a dozen times. But its only holding up for a matter of a 12 hour span. Then it gets worse. Now its just sticking to where I need to pull it up so it doesnt get stuck down.

Isn't that piece just a pin that you can pull out with pliers? It'll probably have some sort of locking clips too. You may be able to remove the pin and clean everything properly and then lube it with some grease. (depending on what tools you have access to of course.) Ok. I just really went nuts under the dash. I found out the actual 2 reasons.
1) The pivot / pedal is a little loose.
2) The cable where it grips onto the pedal had to be greased really good. But its sticking a little because its kind of off-alignment when the pedal is not tight flush enough against the assembly.
So, the answer to this is... how do I tighten the pivoting of the actual pedal. Any ideas? I have no idea if this thing can be tightened, because all i see is some kind of washer and a small bolt on the opposite side of the pivot and pedal.

Your thottle cable has a wire maybe inside sticking. I had the same problem on my 91 with an LS swap the cable I bought from the junk yard had the same problem. Only mine would stick to push down but the same problem I am pretty sure.

TB stick? Check the line... it just happened one morning? Weather residue could cause it to stick somewhere.

Possibly be from the weather?
Everytime i start my car cold in the morning i cant slam the pedal hard cause it will stick (not that you should do it on a cold start.)
I actually had to pull it up with my foot one time. Scary ****.

if its really the gas pedal then:
look at the pivot, you should see a cottor pin. Get some long nose in there and straighten out the cottor pin and take the pin out. The gas pedal slides out. lube it up, then put it all back together. If you cottor pin ends up breaking, just use a paperclip. Good luck
