How do u flare you hood!
If you're really intent on doing this to your hood (which I suggest you don't) measure the stock bolts, then measure the washers or spacers you're going to use. Add the thickness of the spacers to the length of the stock bolts to arrive at the necessary length for the new bolts. Just make sure you select the proper grade.
Are you doing this for looks or what?
I mean, I understand the function aspect of it and all.. And thats fine...But.. Frankly, I think it looks stupid and ugly.
Then again, My car is 3 different colors w/2 different size tires so who am I to talk about stupid and ugly?

You put the spacers or washers between the hood hinge and the hood.

this "mod" has never looked good on these cars. It looks like your car has been in a front end collision and the hood is f*cked.
You have to be pushing massive amounts of power for the "cooling" aspect to even come into play. Don't do it. but the advice above is correct on how to do it.
