Has anybody installed tweeters in their car?
I'm thinking about putting some speakers in but I really don't want a hole in my door. Anybody have some tweeters, and how do you have them mounted in your civic?

Yup, your right. They are in the front corners of the dash. Had them replaced, but def. had a pro do it. I'd get to irritated working up in that super confined area. Those things are tucked in there really tight.

It was Audio Express, and I changed my mind anyway. I figure all that stuff is going to add quite some weight. I'm just going to have them install a headunit and nothing else. Alarm system in the future, but not from them(they don't carry Compustar).
I'm pretty sure their install would be better than mine, plus their install would be warrantied for life, and their whole deal is "$1 install on anything." I keep trying to find a catch to the $1 thing but I haven't found anything so far.
I can get the part about $300 cheaper online, but I heard something about how Pioneer is tracking the serial numbers on the AVIC-D3's and they won't warranty ones sold by eBay stores. I'll ask Pioneer tomorrow if that's true.

Just in case you decide to replace them.....this is a pretty good write-up for front door speakers and dash tweeter replacement.

Not all of us are car Guru's. Trying to do an install when you don't know what your doing is never smart in my opinion.
Just pick a shop with a good reputation. Luckly, I have friend who does custom interiors and electronic installations.
If I have tried to install my stereo or alarm, I am sure my car would still be in pieces.
The one thing I would suggest is that you go out to a on-line Honda parts store and buy some extra clips. I have extra clips for about everything (bumpers, interior consoles, splash guides, ect). Most installation places don't carry clips for every car. Supplying your owe clips insures all the pieces and parts get re-installed correctly, since clips break quite often.

I appreciate the offer, but unless you have a business then no thank you. I prefer paying the extra to have a business install it so if something goes wrong or if a part goes bad, then I can tell them to fix it. That way, even if they have to replace the whole part and lose revenue, I could care less, because the salesman won't be losing any money, the company will. Now if you did it and something went wrong, I wouldn't like you to waste time and money to repair it and end up with losses.
I am considering Circuit City now since they have a service plan that covers my unit completely for 4 years. If within the 4 years they can't replace the part anymore because it is not in production, they will put the full price that I purchased the head unit for towards a new one. All I've heard is negative feedback so far or neutral feedback for Audio Express, and I think they want to charge me $1300 for the AVIC-D3(suggested retail is $1000).
If you do have a business or know of a reliable one, or even have comments about Circuit City, let me know please. I'm trying to get this done within 2 weeks, in fact I was about to just do it today at Audio Express and get on their *** if they messed anything up but they only have the display unit left.

Well i dont have a business (no need for one when you know what you are doing and do it right the 1st time), so sorry i cant help ya out. Go to Findlay Customs and have them do it, they have some sick *** installers over there. Ive worked with/for most of the guys there so i vouch for em. we send em cars all the time. http://www.findlaycustoms.com . And if your trying to get someone to "hook it up" so that it will play video....expect to pay from 100 up to have em do it since its illegal not to mention stupid.

Oh, I do have a question about that. Is it stated by law that you can't have playing video like that? My girlfriend is always with me so it'd be for her to watch so she can stay awake, thus keeping me company and keeping me awake as well(such as on trips to California or something). I wouldn't be watching it myself; I've had a friend who found himself parked in the dirt once because he does it and he also lost his license for a while because of it.
I found a place by the way. Ironically, it's called Tweeter. They have good prices and they were working on a Bentley when I was there, so I'm sure I can trust them with my car. They are also the only certified people to work on the Wynn's Ferraris in vegas.

I wouldn't go to Circuit City, namely the one in Centennial Hills, I took the EK there to get some new rear speakers, not only did they want to charge me like an extra 250-500 because of the "jungle gym" in the back, dude said he might have to take it all apart and remove some side panels in the hatch, but the speaker prices were outrageous! Oh and he said it would take a few hours. Soooo, I laughed out the front door and took it down to Audio Excellence off of Maryland Parkway and Flamingo, across from the Library, and they squezzed me in right before closing for about $130 bucks I believe. Did a great job, really nice people and only took about 45 min. And whataya know, didn't have to take out the "jungle gym" or remove any side panels. I checked it out when I got home, everything was installed very nicely, worked well and sounded awesome.
Needless to say, I never went back to ANY Circuit City again. Not that loosing one customer is going to hurt their revenue. But you know what I am saying....
