heating your springs for lowering purposes
hey guys i was researching the different ways and costs involved in lowering my 95 5spd accord and just got some new information about heating the springs. I've heard that cutting the springs are completely off limits but i havent heard anything about heating them and what the consequences would be. my homeboy works at a local repair shop and says he could all 4 for $30 total bucks compared to $500 bucks for a set of kyb agx's and h&r race lowering springs. what do guys think?

Also you can just lower your car first (springs) and you dont have to get shocks. You can look in the classifieds and im sure you can find a good deal. Its a lot better than heating up or cutting your springs.
shortening the springs on stock shocks isnt a good idea in general. Stock shocks arent designed to stay slightly compressed, so you will blow them out much earlier then they should. Theys why you need to change/upgrade the shocks when you install lowering springs.
ETA: Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. Heating up springs is for '63 impala low riders, not honda's. Spend some money, get decent suspension, and dont kill yourself, or break your back!

Honestly, go with KYB AGX's. They are affordable (compared to other brand names) and more importantly, reliable. I've had them installed on my CD5 for awhile and the ride is great!

Apples to Oranges. You're comparing a destructive modification that costs $30, to completely revamping the suspension.
$30 for a lower ride on weak springs, with harsh ride and no performance gain, vs new, reliable springs for better performance, ALONG with new adjustable shocks all the way around. There's no comparison there...
I hope you see that and I'm just here wasting my breath.
