5th gen cl-s swap
I've read about swaps on a few sites and everyone is entirely for the H22 into 5th gens. Thats all well and good but I really like the A32 motor. so my question would be has anyone done a cl-s swap into a 5th gen. I've seen cl-s swaps into 6th gens and even talk of cl-s into a fourth gen. Would there be fitment issues. I'm sure it's been debated before but if anyone has any good info it would be much appreciated. If it's going to be a custom axle situation I'd probably stray away.. but wiring or ems is not an issue.
Thanks

It's actually a C32 motor, not A32. If you have a 4-cyl, then go ahead and forget about trying this swap. Fitting the V6 into your engine bay is just not going to happen. The 5th gen V6 models had a slightly longer nose...
If you have a V6, then I don't have a straight answer for you, except that it's still going to involve quite a bit of custom work (mounts, subframe, possibly axles), and even then I don't know if it will fit.

Indeed i do have the V6. If the C32 is that much of a stretch is there another good V6 with V-tec that would be a better fit to my car? Anyone with any good ideas. I might wind up scrapping the 5th gen plans and spring for a 6th gen accord if there aren't any particularly good options. 260na hp acceptable aftermarket and inticing fuel economy all sound fantastic right about now.
It will take custom work, you should be alright. To all the disbelievers, a J series in C series hole can't be any worse than jamming an H22 in a CRX. You will need someone to fab up some mounts, modify your axles to fit the new transmission, and wire it up. If you can handle the wiring, that will be half the battle.
Get your checkbook out and go find a good fabricator to get the drivetrain in place.

There is no difference between the two structurally. The Accord is just as good as the CL.

97 CL was the first year for J30a motor.
The Accord V6 (95-97) used a C27 series engine although it was in the same platform as the 97-99 CL it's mounting points are different. I am not sure if it uses the same subframe as the Jseries is a lot narrower and shorter than the C series.
You would have to swap front springs from a 3.0CL anyhow since it is a lot lighter....
Even though a CL type S is over 250lbs heavier than the accords it pretty much owns them (except for the newer 6MT cars) thanks to a min of 60HP more and in some cases 90HP more than the accord V6 of the 95-02 model years

Hmm.... So to start a dangerous train of thought....
Is the 3.0CL based on the long or short nose Accord body? I guess what I'm trying to find out is, is the 3.0CL the same size overall as the 2.3? It would stand to reason that if they are the same size, the subframe for the J might be able to slip into a 4cyl 5th gen. Accord.

Definately possible.. Here are some examples of people's projects. Be prepared to spend some money.

5g v6's have a longer nose ONLY for cooling reasons. a v6 will fit into an i4 engine bay no problem at all, just of course the mounts wont be right.
overall an i4 is quite large... 4 cylinders long, with the two manifolds sticking straight out of the front and back. a v6 is only 3 cylinders long, IM tucked between the V, and the exhaust headers go basically straight down.
a v6 into any bay should be relatively easy if youre willing to make the mounts and such.
