GSR and tranny swap question
hey HT. Dont flame on me please and just hear out my story. well im a full time college student with a part time job that pays min wage. and recently my LS Auto motor has been craping out on me. it has 156k miles on it and well i guess its almost done for. Im also planning to do an auto to manual swap. but right now i dont have the money for the tranny and a GSR motor at one time. but i have money for the gsr motor. so my question is: is there a difference between the wire harness from the auto to manual one. and is the shift linkage different. or just what do i have to buy to make this auto gsr work. yeah i kno i heard it all from get a new car or just go LS turbo or what ever. but im into NA and i always wanted vtec haha. but i think i can wait and milk my motor till it finally blows and save up for the complete swap. so what do u guys think? and thanks for your input, and please no negative comment.
yeah i thought about ls vtec but i just dont have the time for lsvtec and im not much of a hybrid motor guy. well jsut because my friend blew 2 of his lsvtec motors.
buying the gsr engine is a great idea but if u want to convert to manual, i think it be much better and less problems to just buy an oem manual. but if you dont want to sell then save up ur $ and do the engine swap and the manual conversion.

yeah i looked into b20 but cant rev high and well if i get a new motor i want something faster than what i have right now.

You will not like it at all with that Ls auto tranny. You be better off with a complete gsr swap including wire harness, ecu and shift linkage.

if you are going to do it yourself you need the drivers one halfshaft (i think drivers
+jack shaft but its been a while), you can splice peces of the harness to make it
work, the new ecu, a conversion trany mount, and the shift linkage. Expect it to take 3-48 hrs depending on ability. My best advice is to do what you want. Have
some freinds help and budget in beer into the equation for your freinds.
