Default How much $ for exhaust shop to install catback?

So I recently ordered an exhaust for my car, I tried today to install it myself, but I can't get the exhaust bolts off because they're too rusted on, and I can't get the car high enough off the ground for a breaker bar, and I don't have any air tools, so it's pretty much impossible for me to get it off, so I'm wondering how much would a decent exhaust shop charge to take the stock exhaust off and install the new catback?

did you spray pb blaster on the bolts and let it sit? Muffler shop shouldnt charge more than 1-2 hrs labor.

Ok cool, it sucks cause I really wanna do it myself I just don't have the tools... I haven't tried pb blaster, does that work alot better than wd-40? cause wd-40 didn't do the trick, I finally was able to break 1 bolt loose but it was still so tight from being rusted that I couldn't unthread it without giving myself a hernia.

PB blaster is supposed to work better than wd-40.

It's basically a 45 minute job, so a shop should at most charge an hour for labor.

do you try appling heat to the bolts, im sure its hard to do without a lift and not a lot of tools but if you apply heat to the bolts and then get an impact gun and try and loosen the bolts right after you heat them there should be no problem getting them off. and oh yea pb blaster FTW!!

In PA it costs 200 for cat back piping, flex pipe, high flow cat, and labor. so id guess like 35-40 for the labor to put it on?

Had the same problem living in RI everything is rusted. I still did mine though just throw it on jacks . Cut the bolts like any shop would and just replace them . Takes no time and just got to replace the bolts its alot cheaper than paying somone to do it.. That money easily saved doing it yourself

For the $50-100 you would spend at a shop, just get the right tools so you can do it the next time too... and REMEMBER to buy new bolts and apply threadlock

Yep do it your self.... Tuning and maybe a seclet few other thing somone is doing for me besdies that im doing it all why pay somone 100 plus dollars to do a exhaust when u could do it for like 5 bucks if u got the tool if not like 55 and after that u can do the job all the time after that.

K I think I found a way around it. I'm ganna take the down pipe/cat off, then freaking take those bolts off any way i can, which will be much easier once it's off of the car, that way I don't have to pay a shop, but I'm thinking of getting a high flow cat since my stock cat is pretty old and small, but I'm kinda short on money, I was wondering if there's really much of a difference than a good cat, say the carsound cat, and a cheep ebay high flow cat.

Yeah i'm lookin Ebay does have cheep test pipes and cats but are they worth it? I'd love to get one cause I'm really on a tight budget here now. I just wanna know what the differences are between them and the spendy carsound and other spendy ones.

The stock honda cats are great because they're already free flowing. but if you buy any kind i would recommend magnaflow hi flow.

Yeh I'm just wondering what the differences are between the magnaflow and the ebay ones, cause they're both high flow, made from t-304 stainless steel, and 2.5", just wondering if anyone has any first had experiences with the ebay ones, are they any good?

They definently won't clean as well. and that is the point of having one. Otherwise just fit a test pipe. I have magnaflow on mine just because the stock one cracked

wow, i feel like i got BIG TIME ripped off! I paid 350$$ for my catback exhaust which was 2.25" and a no name muffler and a 18" resonator. And this is with no cat.

This was like 3 years ago though.
