Default Roll bar question on pricing.

not sure if this is the wrong forum, i just got a quote to do a 6 point roll bar in mild steel.
They wanted $2500 cdn around 2100USD, we don't have many fab shops in the toronto area, is that too much? or is that a reasonable price?

Seams reasonable, but i'd ask the company to see pictures or real cars of their previous customers. Make sure they are familiar with the rules and regulations of the specific organization and class you are going to be racing in (SCCA, NASA, NHRA...) If you get pictures, post them online here and you will get better feedback if the company does decent work or not.

Umm, that's not reasonable, i don't care how good you are, $2100 for a mild steel 6pt cage is a little on the steep side!

yeah i guess i was making some assumptions... If you have a stripped car and its all prep'd, you'd expect to pay something more like $1300-1600 depending on features.

Migged or tigged shouldn't affect the price that much, and there are rarely any extra gussets or anything like that on a mild steel 6pt. cage. That's over $1000 more than average for a 6pt mild steel cage...

A quality job for a mild steel 6 point roll bar I feel should be anywhere from $1000 to $1500. Nothing more though; no add-ons.

What justifies the $2100 price tag?

no add-ons they said that's it's tig 6 point roll bar with harness bar and weld on tabs for the harness. I have a tig welder, but no luck with those weld in cages, they never fit.
plus my car is stripped just driver's seat, and dash

btw, are you close to NYC? or closer to buffalo?
