Maintenance Required
Hey guys, I have a 97 integra gsr with 135000 miles on it. I just got the oil changed and everything seems to be ok. The problem I'm having is the maintenance light. I know how to reset it (push in the button under the dash), but for some reason it won't turn off. I asked a guy at pepboys and he said it's an engine problem and i need to have an engine diagnostic run. I thought, the maintenance required light was linked to the odometer not the engine. Could this be a serious problem?
thanks

The guy at pep boys must have been thinking of the check engine light. The maintenance required light is just a reminder. If you couldnt reset it maybe you were doing it wrong?

Yes, you need to hold it in until it goes out. Don't just press it quickly. It should stay full on for a second or two, and then go out entirely.
Also, press it ALL the way in. The center of the button is fairly deep.
I'm just glad this wasn't another topic asking how to reset the light, since we already have a gazillion of those.
