if you are meaning long block, short block ..complete motor the only difference is what coming w/ the motor I.E alt,TB,starter..exhaust manifold..etc they are just summing it up for you 
like a complete would have everything the long having not as much and a short basically the block sometimes with a head or heads depends on ones definition of "short block"
